Taking us to visit the farm, Mr. Viet said that after graduating from the College of Information Technology (Da Nang University), he continued to serve in the People’s Police.

After completing his civic duty, Viet returned and immediately found a job that matched his specialty.

In 2020, a turning point came to Viet when he happened to see a video on the internet about a deer farm. Immediately, Viet was attracted to this purebred wild animal. Thinking is doing, he and a friend embarked on learning experience in animal husbandry and moved to his hometown to facilitate work.

At first, he intended to raise the forest pines that people hunted, but it was not effective because it was difficult for the wild to adapt to the captive environment . Not giving up, Viet researched and searched to buy commercial seeds.

Thanks to the experience of learning and drawing from books and newspapers, the forerunners and the thorough care and care of Viet raised and reproduced well. From a few dozen initial breeding pairs, Viet has now multiplied the herd to more than 350 children, including more than 100 pairs of breeding parents. The scale of the farm is also gradually expanded.

Sharing his experience after 3 years of accompanying animals that “eat at night, sleep during the day”, Mr. Viet said that breeding bats must ensure factors such as raising techniques, living environment, facilities and equipment. product output. Farm management is also digitized, reflected in the application of information technology to the management of livestock, life cycle, reproductive cycle, and pedigree elements.

“Birds raised at the farm are tracked records, sold and sold by plot, even the pairing between males and females is closely and scientifically monitored, avoiding inbreeding,” added Mr. Viet.

According to Mr. Viet, the barn is also quite simple, just 4 50cm square ceramic bricks are erected, put together and glued together to get a square, holding 1-2 bats. The cage needs to be well ventilated, avoiding direct sunlight and drafts. Above the barn is roofed with corrugated iron, covered with a net to prevent heat, the floor of the barn is lined with cement to facilitate cleaning and avoid digging holes to hide.

Bats are rodents, the main food is corn, sugarcane, bamboo leaves, grass stalks… can be grown by themselves, so it is less expensive to take the initiative. The beauty of the bat is that its manure resembles sawdust, does not have a fishy smell, so it can be raised in many places, limiting environmental impact.

Good income from foster care

Currently, Vietnam’s bat farm has started to supply seeds for breeding facilities from 2022. There are times when the farm sells breeding parents up to several dozen pairs. Breeding bats can be sold at many ages, depending on the customer’s request.

After 8 months of breeding, it becomes an adult, begins to give birth to the first litter, the time of exploitation is from 4 to 5 years, there are even seeds that can be exploited for 6 years, about 3 litters a year, 3-5 children each. .

Raising meat for about 10 months to a year can be sold with a weight of 1.2-1.5 kg/head; The price is about 550,000 VND/kg. Seeds are priced at 2.5-3 million VND/pair.

“Currently, the supply is not enough for demand, traders go to collect a lot of commercial products, there are many people who are willing to make a deposit in advance to reserve a place. The average income from my camp is about 150 million per year”, Mr. Viet let me know.

“In the future, I will expand the farm size to meet market demand,” Huynh Le Viet shared.

Currently, Mr. Viet is a member of the Dai Loc fostering cooperation group. Joining the group, members will be provided with and share knowledge and experience in the field of husbandry from experienced predecessors.

According to Mr. Huynh The Toan – Secretary of Dai Loc district union, the model of animal husbandry has high economic efficiency, opening a new direction in livestock production for many local households.

The district union also has many programs to support and encourage young people to visit and learn from experience so that they can replicate the farming profession and increase their income
